In a few words …

Is it just me or is anyone else amazed that the trees are budding and the daffodils and gladiolas are blooming … IN FEBRUARY?! Don’t get me wrong I love the fact that spring appears to be coming early this year. From the seemingly dead and dormant landscapes, life is bursting forth. It is our Easter story as told by Mother Nature.

This coming Tuesday we will begin the prelude to Easter with Shrove Tuesday. It is a time of fellowship filled with scrumptious pancakes, Mardi Gras beads, and loads of fun. It is a time for us to fill up in preparation for Lent as we journey with Jesus to the cross.

During this Lenten season, as we journey,  you will be encouraged to participate with your Cornerstone family in spiritual practices (John Wesley called means of grace) meant to deepen our intimacy with God and one another. These foundational individual and corporate practices include prayer, fasting, deep engagement with scripture, worshiping in community, and partaking in Holy Communion. In addition, as United Methodists, we are encouraged to a broader scope of practices which include acts of mercy;   meant to help us live out our Christian call more fully.

Please check the website, the eletter and bulletin for opportunities to join together this Lent as we aspire to know God more deeply. I pray you will feel so moved. I’ll see you this Sunday, if not before …

Peace be yours ~
