February 17, 2017: From Pastor Carol

Pastor Carol

In a few words … This past Monday I attended my quarterly Mentor pastor meeting at Perkins School of Theology. I enjoy this time to be with the other mentor pastors, old friends and professors. Like our interns, we study, write papers learn about some of the newest biblical research and we worship together.
During morning worship we heard a reading written by Sister Joan Chittter from “For Everything A Season”.
I found the words poignant and meaningful and I’d like to share them with you.

“Rebuilders are artists of the soul who shape a piece of human creation and leave results to the kiln of time. They do not claim to have all the answers. They claim to honor the questions. They are prepared to float forever, if necessary, to find a better world, to shape a finer piece of the planet… The soul of a rebuilder is based on the ability to look lovingly into the nothingness and know that there is something there worth going to, worth giving this life to doing so that the lives of those that follow can be better still.”

As Cornerstone moves into the vision of the next few years may we see ourselves as rebuilders. May we see ourselves as those who will leave this life fuller and richer for those who come behind. This Sunday we will be talking more about what that looks like. See you then …
Peace be yours ~
