Cornerstone UMC Prayer Chain

Prayer is one of the five fundamental commitments that each United Methodist Church member makes when joining:  Prayers, Presence, Gifts, Service, and Witness.  As Christians, we believe in the incredible power of prayer, and we rally our resources - people and technology - to quickly and accurately distribute requests and information to the members of our congregation to pray on behalf of one another.

The prayer chain is the spiritual alarm system which communicates and takes prayerful action on the needs of the congregation, the community, and global needs.  This network of people who are committed to prayer take action on behalf of the congregation, employing Jesus' guidance to "ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened" (Matthew 7:7).

The importance of the prayer chain is that it faithfully intercedes on behalf of others in need by lifting up specific requests, concerns, and emergency situations.  In the past, a prayer chain was a network of individuals who received prayer requests and thanksgivings via the telephone, forwarded them to the next available person in the network, and prayed immediately for each request.  With the power of telecommunications, e-mail, and other means of connecting, we are less reliant on serial one-on-one links among individuals to spread the word and instead use a broadcast technique to quickly muster our resources in a parallel/broadside fashion.

Leadership

The key to our successful prayer chain is our Prayer Chain Leader who has a heart for prayer, has the ability to organize our network, support and encourage those who serve in this ministry, processes the prayer requests, and recruit new participants.  The prayer chain is the joy and responsibility of our Prayer Chain Leader who is ultimately accountable to our pastor and to God.

If you would like to join our prayer chain or if you would like to request prayers for specific subjects, use one of the two buttons below in order to contact our Prayer Chain Leader.  When subscribing to the prayer chain, rest assured that we will not reveal your e-mail address to others, even those who are members of the prayer chain -  your privacy is assured.  When making a request to the prayer chain, only the request itself is sent to the prayer chain membership, not your e-mail address nor any other additional identifying information.  Therefore, you can choose to remain anonymous, fully reveal your identity, or anywhere in between, by merely adjusting the amount of information you place in the body of the request.  The choice is yours.
