Welcome to the Cornerstone UMY!

Welcome to the Cornerstone UMY (United Methodist Youth) page. We welcome you to the UMY and we hope to see you visit us soon.

Come with us and be a part of the Cornerstone Youth Ministry!

Come to the Sunday evening fellowship, every Sunday, 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the church sanctuary. Enjoy delicious food served by youth families, play some games, worship God in powerful ways & sing some great songs. This is a great time to share our joys & cares as we come to God in prayer.

Notes from Nicole

School is in session & we are excited about the fall!

Beginning September 19^th, we will be in our new youth room featuring a snack bar! The snack bar will be equipped with a dishwasher, a refrigerator, & a microwave. Musical instruments, games, & various forms of media will enter the space after the completion of second floor in September.

On Sunday, September 19th, the youth are invited to be apart of the Winter Retreat Planning Committee from 4-4:45. Following this meeting, we will have Family game night from 5-7! There are so many wonderful events occurring here at Cornerstone & we are excited about what is to come!

We will continue our study of "Scary, Gross & Weird Stories from the Bible," this month.

Fall Retreat: God Prints

October 1-3 will be the 2010 Fall Retreat at Cornerstone UMC in the new Youth Room. Youth have selected to study about Faith in God, focusing on Hebrews 11:1.

God Prints will be an awesome study that will allow the youth to focus on one's faith in God and how God is present in the world today. The cost of $40 includes food, events, and T-shirt.

There will be plenty of indoor & outdoor activities beginning Friday night. Among the activities, the youth will work on a mission project by assisting others and will travel to the lake for evening worship.

The retreat will conclude with two powerful youth led-Sunday morning worship services at 8:30 & 11 a.m.

"I am really excited about this year's retreat with our youth," said Nicole Benson, Director of Youth Ministries. "From the programming to activities, from designing of the T-shirt to the song selection, the youth have provided the leadership & planning of this event."

If interested, registration forms are located on youth bulletin board, outside of the kitchen area at Cornerstone or contact the Director of Youth Ministries.

The deadline to register for the Fall Retreat is Sunday September 19th.

If you would like to assist with this event or provide donations towards the event, please contact the Director of Youth.

A final planning meeting for the Fall Retreat will be Sunday, September 19th, @4-4:45 p.m. at Cornerstone, before UMYF.

All are invited to assist with this meeting.

Matthew Higgins Scholarship Fund

A memorial fund was established for Matt Higgins, who died unexpectedly on Christmas Eve 2007. Matt's parents, John & Debbie, are a vital part of our Cornerstone family, and they've asked that funds collected in this memorial be used to help others celebrate the love of life and Christ that Matt enjoyed.

Scholarships for mission trips and retreats are available by contacting the Director of Youth MInistries, Nicole Benson.
